FAQs

What is nutritional therapy?

1

Nutritional therapy is a science-based approach to health that uses food, lifestyle changes, and targeted supplementation to support your body's natural ability to heal and function well. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, I look at the whole picture, your health history, diet, lifestyle, stress levels, and more, to understand what's really driving how you feel.

How is nutritional therapy different from seeing a dietitian?

2

Dietitians typically work within the NHS, focusing on clinical conditions and standardised dietary guidelines. As a nutritional therapist, I take a more personalised, root-cause approach, spending significantly more time with you to understand your unique health story. My programmes are tailored entirely to you, not a generic protocol.

Can nutritional therapy work alongside my GP or specialist?

3

Absolutely, and I encourage it. Nutritional therapy works best as a complement to conventional medical care, not a replacement for it. I'm happy to liaise with your GP or specialist where appropriate, and I'll always refer you on if something falls outside my scope of practice.

How do I get started?

4

The first step is a free 30-minute discovery call, where we have an informal chat about what's going on for you and whether we'd be a good fit. There's no pressure and no commitment, it's simply a chance to ask questions and get a feel for how I work.

Do you work online or in person?

5

At present I work with clients online only, so wherever you're based, we can make it work. Online sessions are via video call and work just as well as face-to-face, many of my clients actually prefer the flexibility.

How long does it take to see results?

6

This varies from person to person depending on your starting point and the complexity of your health concerns. That said, many clients notice meaningful improvements; better energy, reduced bloating, improved sleep - within the first few weeks. Deeper or more chronic issues naturally take longer, which is why my programmes run from 6 weeks to 6 months.

Do I need to have had blood tests or a diagnosis before working with you?

7

No. You don't need any prior tests or a formal diagnosis to work with me. I can recommend appropriate functional or clinical tests as part of your programme if needed, and I'll help you understand what the results mean. I am also happy to write to your GP to request any NHS testing is appropriate.

Do you offer payment plans?

8

Yes. The 12-week and 6-month programmes are both structured as monthly payments to make them more manageable. You can find the details on the Services page.

Do you accept health insurance?

9

This depends on your insurance provider. Some policies do cover nutritional therapy, it's worth checking directly with your insurer and asking whether they recognise BANT-registered practitioners. If your policy does cover my services, I'm happy to provide you with an invoice and receipt that you can submit for reimbursement. Please note that I'm unable to accept reduced rates from insurers and all sessions must be paid in full at the time of booking. Any reimbursement is then between you and your insurance provider.

Do you recommend supplements?

10

Sometimes, yes, but food always comes first. If supplements are appropriate for your situation, I'll make specific, evidence-based recommendations. I won't suggest anything unnecessary, and I'll always explain the reasoning behind each one.
